Two Chinese tourists were apprehended by Sydney police last Saturday (Oct 29) after they were caught urinating in the city's Royal Botanic Gardens.

A witness who posted pictures of the incident on Chinese social media claimed that the two men, aged 66 and 41, were spotted midway through their act by local police in the gardens.

They attempted to flee when the officers approached them, and a struggle ensued when the officers caught up with the pair.

The struggle ended with the Chinese tourists handcuffed and sprawled face down into the ground.

The witness mentioned that their act was especially shameful as a public toilet was only three minutes away from the spot.

Sina News reported that the men belonged to a tour group from Wenzhou, Zhejiang province.

According to Shanghai Daily, it was the older man who struggled against the police.

He was charged with resisting arrest and offensive behaviour, and will appear in court next month.

The younger man was served a notice for offensive behaviour.
