Motorcycling: World c'ship leader Marc Marquez suffers shoulder injury in crash

SILVERSTONE, BRITAIN (AFP) - World championship leader Marc Marquez injured his shoulder in a warm-up crash on Sunday morning ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone later in the day.

The 20-year-old Spaniard came off his Repsol Honda bike going into a bend. Holding his left shoulder, Marquez was taken by ambulance to the circuit's medical centre.

He has won the last four Grand Prix races and is bidding to become the first rookie since American Kenny Roberts in 1978 to win the world championship.

He leads Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa by 26 points in the world championship standings, with reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo third a further 18 points down.
