Registration for the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) will open on July 4, with 2,000 more slots opened for the half-marathon (21km) category.

The event, which will take place on Dec 1, will cater to some 62,000 runners this year. The participation quota for the full marathon (42km), 10km, and kids' dash categories will remain unchanged at 25,000, 20,000 and 5,000 respectively.

Runners can sign up for the annual event, recently awarded Best Sports Event (Local) at the Singapore Sports Awards, at The Event Square, Waterfront Promenade @ Marina Bay from 11am on July 4.

The first 300 registrants will receive a special Seiko timer alarm clock, while the next 500 will get a limited edition gym bag. Lucky draws will also be conducted.

Registrants will also receive a $5 discount for all categories except the Ekiden.
