SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has reminded Singaporeans eligible for the GST Voucher benefits and five-year Medisave top-up to sign up for the scheme if they have not already done so.
They will have until Dec 31 this year to sign up - either on the GST Voucher website or by completing the form enclosed in their reminder letters, which will be sent out by mid-November.
Introduced in 2012 to help lower and middle-income families with their living expenses, the GST Voucher scheme has three components - cash (including a Seniors' Bonus this year), Medisave and Utilities-Save (U-Save).
About 1.6 million Singaporeans were informed of their 2015 benefits starting in July. In October, more than 800,000 Housing Board households received their quarterly U-Save rebates ranging from $50-$65.
Eligible Singaporeans who had previously received their GST Voucher payouts need not sign up again, while the U-Save is granted to eligible households automatically.
As of last month, MOF revealed that the Government had handed out $694 million in GST cash vouchers, $117 million in GST Medisave and $90 million in U-Save rebates. It also disbursed $93 million in five-year Medisave top-ups.
More information on the scheme can be found at www.gstvoucher.gov.sg.
The eligibility criteria for the different components can be found below.
