ISIS attack on Egypt security convoy in North Sinai province leaves 18 policemen dead

ISMAILIA, Egypt (Reuters) - The death toll from an Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) attack on a security convoy in Egypt's North Sinai province has climbed to 18 policemen, including two officers, security and medical sources said on Monday (Sept 11).

Seven people, three policemen and four ambulance workers, were also injured in the attack, which started when militants detonated an improvised explosive device targeting armoured vehicles, triggering a gunfight.

ISIS claimed the attack.
