ATHENS (REUTERS) - Greece has arrested eight men aboard a Turkish military helicopter which landed in the northern city of Alexandroupolis at midday on Saturday (July 16), the country's police ministry said.
The men have requested political asylum, it added.
Greek state television ERT said the men may have been involved in Turkey's military uprising on Friday.
Turkey has asked Greece to return eight soldiers who fled there in a helicopter, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Twitter.
The soldiers are believed to have fled hours after a military faction attempted to overthrow the government.
