(REUTERS) - Mexico's Popocatepetl volcano erupted into clear blue sky on Friday (Nov 25), in a powerful show of smoke and ash.
The dramatic eruption spewed slight ash over the nearby city of Atlixco Puebla.
According to authorities, in the last 24 hours there were 324 volcanic eruptions, with the largest one rising nearly five kilometres (three miles) over the crater.
There have been a series of rumblings at the massive volcano in recent months, with the most recent large eruption occurring on April 3.
Popocatepetl has been active since the mid-90s.
Mexico contains over 3,000 volcanos but only 14 are considered active.
