SINGAPORE - Internet service provider MyRepublic has pledged £2,500 (S$4,919) towards the crowdfunding efforts of Masquerada: Songs And Shadows, a locally-made game by Witching Hour Studios.

As of Friday (May 5), this brings the total amount pledged to $109,395 from 1,907 backers.

With 11 hours left to go at the time of this report, the campaign has already exceeded its target of $88,578.

Masquerada: Songs and Shadows is a role-playing game with a pause-for-tactics mechanic reminiscent of the Baldur's Gate series.

It also boasts top voice talents, such as Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect, Diablo III, Halo 4 and 5) and Matthew Mercer (Fallout 4, Street Fighter IV).

Mr Ian Gregory Tan, co-founder and creative director of Witching Hour Studios, said of MyRepublic's contribution: "I thought it was a joke at first! £2,500 is no small amount and I honestly thought someone was trying to be funny.

"We are still reeling from such a strong show of support for what we're trying to do."

A spokesperson from MyRepublic said: "As a homegrown start-up ourselves, we know it's no small feat for a local gaming start-up to receive acclaim and attention overseas as well as at home.

"Undertaking a labour of love like Masquerada requires a great deal of courage, tireless effort (and perhaps a touch of madness), and it's heartening to see it recognised and loved on an international scale."

The game is due for release in the third quarter of this year on PC and PlayStation 4.
