SINGAPORE - The Oct 23-30 BNP Paribas WTA Finals presented by SC Global will feature the world's top eight women tennis players and doubles teams, but even at the singles draw ceremony at Marina Bay Sands on Friday, the final spot remains open for contention between Britain's Johanna Konta and Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Top seed Angelique Kerber, the world No. 1 from Germany, was drawn into the Red Group with Simona Halep of Romania, Madison Keys of the United States and Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia.

Second seed and defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland leads the White Group, together with Czech Karolina Pliskova and Spaniard Garbine Muguruza.

Konta is next in line to take the eighth and final singles spot, but the place will go to Kuznetsova if the Russian wins the ongoing Kremlin Cup in Moscow this week.

Kuznetsova, who last featured at the season-ending tournament in 2009, will bid to keep her qualifying hopes alive at the Kremlin Cup semi-finals on Friday, where she will play against Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
