SINGAPORE - Marathoners in Singapore will have a new medal to look forward to in their collection as the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) organisers unveiled today (June 28) a new design for this year's edition of the run.

Veering away from the traditional circular-shaped medals, runners who complete the full 42.195km race will receive one in the shape of the island of Singapore, with iconic landmarks such as the Singapore Flyer and the Art Science Museum etched on its surface.

The race, now in its 16th edition, will feature new routes in both the marathon and half-marathon categories, along with a whole host of other perks for runners including a race pack worth over $180.

The SCSM will be on Dec 2-3, with most races starting from Orchard Road and finishing at the Padang.

Sign-ups are open until Nov 15 while signing up before June 30 will entitle runners to a early-bird discount of $15. Registration details and more information can be found at singaporemarathon.com.

SCSM is the official race partner for The Straits Times Run in the City 2017, which is held on July 16 at the Padang.
