The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight and heavyweight champion confirmed that he was retiring at age 41 after a unanimous decision loss to fellow American Miocic, 37.
The defeat concluded a trilogy of fights - Cormier won the first via knockout in July 2018 but suffered a technical knockout loss in the second 13 months later.
