Woman hit by bus along Choa Chu Kang Drive dies

SINGAPORE - A woman who was hit by a bus along Choa Chu Kang Drive on Wednesday (May 17) succumbed to her injuries three days later, reported Shin Min Daily News on Tuesday.
The report identified the woman as laboratory technician Wai Lai Leng, 49.
Ms Wai was attempting to cross the road towards Yew Tee MRT station on her way to work when the accident happened, her elder sister told reporters after claiming her body on Tuesday.
Her family was notified of the accident by Ms Wai's employers.
Ms Wai was taken to Ng Teng Fong Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery and was warded in the intensive care unit, the sister added.
She also said that Ms Wai remained unresponsive up till her death on Saturday morning.
Their family has not heard from the bus driver involved, she noted.
Photos posted on Facebook by user Kok Hoe Goh, which have since been taken down, showed that the windscreen of the yellow bus was cracked.
Responding to media queries, a police spokesman said they were alerted to the accident at around 6.20am.
A woman, which is understood to be Ms Wai, was taken unconscious to Ng Teng Fong Hospital (NTFH), which was placed on standby to receive her.
Police investigations are ongoing.
The Straits Times understands that no arrest has been made.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesman told The Straits Times that the SCDF was alerted to the incident and responded to it at around 6.45am.
