SINGAPORE - A fire broke out outside a seventh-floor HDB flat in Eunos Crescent on Thursday (April 7) morning, prompting residents to band together to help put out the blaze with buckets of water.
No injuries were reported.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at Block 18, Eunos Crescent, at around 8.30am.
It dispatched a fire engine, two red rhinos, two fire bikes and a support vehicle, but the fire had already been extinguished prior to their arrival.
A minute-long video posted by Facebook user Asik Ali showed residents gathering along the corridor outside the flat.
A series of explosions were heard as thick, black smoke billowed out shortly after.
According to a SCDF spokesman, the fire involved discarded items outside the unit. About 10 residents self-evacuated for their own safety.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, the spokesman added.
