SINGAPORE - A fire at a processing plant in Joo Koon was put out by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers on Wednesday morning (June 15).

In a Facebook post at around 8.30am, the SCDF said that it responded to the fire at 6, Joo Koon Circle, at 5.40am on Wednesday.

The fire was raging in a 20m by 20m area.

"SCDF firefighters surrounded the area with eight water jets including an aerial monitor and prevented the fire from spreading," it said.

The fire was put out within 90 minutes, and there were no injuries reported.

Damping down operations - which involve applying water to wet burnt surfaces immediately after a fire is put out, to prevent rekindling - were in progress.

Photos posted by the SCDF showed firefighters battling the fire at buildings emblazoned with the letters ACP.

According to ACP Metal Finishing's website, it is situated at 6, Joo Koon Circle.

In an earlier post about the fire, SCDF said: "SCDF has been alerted to a fire at 6, Joo Koon Circle, this morning. SCDF resources are at scene conducting firefighting operations."
