Online offer of air tickets fake, warns Etihad

Bogus websites have been offering Etihad Airways plane tickets in return for participating in a survey, the United Arab Emirates airline warned yesterday .

The websites claim to offer tickets to participants who complete a survey, add a link to their Facebook account and share it with friends and other similar activities.

But Etihad Airways said flight tickets issued through these sites are fraudulent. "Etihad Airways has no association with these websites whatsoever and has initiated proceedings against the owners of the sites," the airline said in a press statement issued yesterday.

The airline did not elaborate on what these websites were. The Straits Times understands posts about free Etihad Airways tickets have been circulating on Facebook and clicking through takes users to a fake Etihad Airways website.
