SINGAPORE - People who want new banknotes for Chinese New Year will be able to get them starting next Monday (Jan 29) at 36 POSB pop-up ATMs in community clubs across Singapore.

They will also be able to reserve new notes online and collect them at DBS and POSB branches at their convenience.

The special pop-up ATMs will be set up in 27 community clubs, as part of a collaboration between DBS/POSB and the People's Association.

All machines, except the one at Chong Pang Community Club, will be open round the clock. Bank staff will be stationed at each spot between 9am and 9pm daily until Feb 14.

Mr Jeremy Soo, managing director and head of consumer banking group (Singapore) at DBS Bank, said: "Every year, our customers tell us that they want to spend less time queueing for their notes and more time with their loved ones. We have taken their feedback seriously, which is why we are introducing more pop-up ATM locations this year. In addition, we have also upgraded our machines to hold more notes."

Mr Soo added that those who wish to deposit money during "lucky timings" on the auspicious day of Li Chun can also do so using the bank's virtual payment app, DBS PayLah.

People who make deposits via the app on Li Chun stand to win $88. Li Chun falls on Feb 4 this year.

"We believe Li Chun is a mix of tradition and modernity, and our customers should not have to 'work' for luck and prosperity. We made it easier and more convenient for them to skip physical queues and instead, deposit money via DBS PayLah during their auspicious hour," Mr Soo said.

From Monday, people can visit www.go.dbs.com/sg-cnynotes or www.posb.com.sg/cnynotes to reserve their Chinese New Year new notes.
