COE tender results out today
The tender results of December's second open bidding exercise for certificates of entitlement (COEs) are expected later today (Dec 21).
At the latest tender exercise that ended on Dec 7, premiums for bigger Category B cars fell below those for smaller Category A cars, tumbling to $46,229 from $53,001 two weeks ago. This was a drop of nearly 13 per cent.
Verdict out for ex-BSI banker trial

A verdict is expected today (Dec 21) in the witness-tampering case involving former BSI banker Yeo Jiawei, who was arrested for illicit transactions in the money-laundering operations linked to 1MDB fund scandal.
The 33-year old banker faced four counts of obstructing justice by allegedly urging witnesses to lie to police and destroy evidence while out on bail after being arrested on March 17 in connection with money laundering. A separate trial is expected to start next year in seven other charges against him including money laundering and cheating,
Bank of Thailand to announce interest rates

The Bank of Thailand will announce its latest interest rate decision today (Dec 21). Economists expect the Thai central bank to leave rates unchanged despite a slow economic recovery. Thailand's policy rate has been unchanged since April last year, and is just marginally above the record low implemented during the global financial crisis.
November inflation figures for Malaysia

Malaysia will release its inflation figures for November today (Dec 21). Economists are expecting Malaysia's consumer price index to have risen 1.6 per cent from a year earlier in November, slightly faster than the previous month's pace. Malaysia's central bank said last month annual inflation had moderated to 1.3 per cent in the third quarter.
Aleppo evacuation draws to a close

The evacuation of rebels and civilians from the rebel-held pocket of Aleppo is expected to be completed by Wednesday (Dec 21). The evacuations are part of a ceasefire arrangement that brings to an end four years of fighting in the battle-ravaged city. Tens of thousands of people have left the city since the evacuations began last Thursday.
