SINGAPORE- Seven of the people who helped free a South Korean who was pinned under a truck in July have been rewarded with a five-day trip to South Korea.
Evening daily Shin Min reported that the heroes who helped rescue Kim Sung Mo, 35, were hosted to lunch by the Korean Association in Singapore on Tuesday. They were given certificates and rewarded with the trip. Sponsored by Asiana Airlines, the trip includes return flight tickets, accommodation and tour expenses.
Mr Kim was hit by a trailer truck at the junction of Boon Keng Road and Bendemeer Road and trapped under it on July 22. Footage of about 30 members of public helping the South Korean was caught on camera and went viral online. Mr Kim escaped with a leg fracture and underwent surgery at Tan Tock Seng hospital.
Mr Noh Chong Hyun, president of the Korean Association, said that the lunch was organised to express his gratitude to those who had helped.
Among those who attended the lunch, held at the association's premises in Tanjong Pagar, were Asiana Airline's regional manager and the Korea Tourism Organisation Singapore chairman.
