SINGAPORE - A GetGo car was engulfed in flames along Upper Changi Road East on the morning of May 29.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the burning vehicle at about 11.05am, and put out the fire using a water jet.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

In a video recording of the incident, a vehicle belonging to the GetGo car-sharing app is seen stationary on a road, being gutted by orange flames.

The car trunk is open, with an object that appears to be a bumper lying on the ground, charred by the fire.

GetGo told The Straits Times that at the time of the incident, the affected vehicle was driven by an authorised workshop personnel and was not available on GetGo’s platform.

The company is investigating the cause of the incident.

“All our vehicles comply with regulatory inspection and servicing requirements to ensure that they adhere to industry standards and are safe to drive,” it said.
