SINGAPORE - A fire broke out at a shophouse at Geylang Road on Friday (June 30) morning. No one was injured.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the fire at 149 Geylang Road at about 9.40am.

Mr Aizat Uji, 30, who was having breakfast in the area, said he saw black smoke coming from the back door of the unit.

The premises appear to be a KTV lounge near Geylang Lorong 3.

Drivers were slowing down to look, affecting traffic on Geylang Road, he said.

The fire, which involved one of the rooms in the unit, was extinguished by SCDF using one waterjet.

SCDF sent a fire engine, two Red Rhinos, two fire bikes and two support vehicles to the scene.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of fire is under investigation, SCDF said.
