SINGAPORE - A fire broke out at a construction site on Yio Chu Kang Road on Thursday, but was put out by the workers before fire fighters arrived.

Plumes of smoke were seen rising from the site, and were captured in a photo on Twitter.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was informed of the fire at the construction site at the junction of Yio Chu Kang Road and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 at about 5.45pm.

The fire, which involved wooden materials in the construction site, was extinguished by the workers using a water hose reel.

SCDF sent one fire engine, one red rhino and one fire bike to the scene. No injuries were reported, it said.

The fire is under investigation.
