SINGAPORE - The posting results for the 2016 Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) will be released at 9am on Thursday (Jan 28), the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced on Monday.

Applicants can obtain their posting results via the JAE website.

They will also receive an SMS informing them of their results if they provided their mobile phone number during registration.

Results of the Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE), meanwhile, will be released on Friday at the same time.

Results can be obtained by accessing the JPSAE portal.

MOE said applicants posted to a junior college (JC) or the Millennia Institute (MI) should report to their respective institutions on Friday at 7.30am.

Those posted to a Polytechnic or Institute of Technical Education (ITE) will receive further instructions through an enrolment package from the institutions they were posted to by mail.

A total of 29,723 students took the O-level exams last year.

Last year's cohort put up a best-ever showing, with 83.8 per cent of them attaining five or more passes at the national exam - surpassing the 83.3 per cent mark set by the class of 2014.

Appeals

Applicants who wish to appeal for a transfer to another JC or the MI should approach the respective institutions of their choice directly. JCs have the discretion to consider the application if it has available vacancies and the applicant meets its course cut-off point for this year's exercise.

Those wishing to appeal for a place polytechnic diploma course or transfer to another diploma course can do so via the Centralised Joint Polytechnic JAE appeal system from 9am on Friday to 4pm next Tuesday (Feb 2).

The outcome of the JAE will be released via the Centralised Joint Polytechnic JAE appeal website on Feb 10 at 2pm.

Lastly, those who want to appeal for a place in the ITE can do so at https://www.ite.edu.sg/wps/portal/intake, from 9am on Thursday to Feb 3. The outcome of the appeals will be available at https://www.ite.edu.sg/admission/ft/results.html from 9am on Feb 22 to Feb 25. Successful applicants are required to accept the offer by Feb 25.
