1994-2008

Businessman and former senior public servant Haider Sithawalla is Singapore's non-resident high commissioner to Mauritius, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

He began public service as director of light industries services at the Economic Development

Board from 1963 to 1968 and then rose to become deputy secretary of the Economic Development Division in the Ministry of Finance from 1968 to 1976.


2004-present

Mr Ameerali Abdeali is president of the Muslim Kidney Action Association, which supports kidney patients and their families. He founded the Muslim Kidney Action Committee in 1990.

He is also a Justice of the Peace, a retired head of the Ministry of Labour's Occupational Safety and Health Centre, and a former honorary secretary of the Inter-Religious Organisation of Singapore.


2007-present

Businessman Shabbir Hassanbhai was appointed Singapore's non-resident High Commissioner to Nigeria in 2007.

Among other things, he was also chairman of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 2002 to 2004. He also chairs the Africa Singapore Business Forum.


2014

Teacher turned businesswoman Shireen Khanali helps raise money for the needy by organising yearly bicycle rides with her family and friends under the aegis, Ride For Rations. In 2014, they raised about $350,000 for 330 needy households in Chai Chee, Marsiling and Hougang.


2015

Engineer Izzuddin Taherally, who has been president of the charity Malay Youth Literary Association for 25 years, was awarded the Excellent Service award by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) for his many lifelong contributions to social services.
