Two men arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore

SINGAPORE - Two men were arrested by coastal police for trying to swim illegally into Singapore in the wee hours of March 26.

At about 3.30am, coastal police detected "two floating objects believed to be swimmers at the sea off Poyan Reservoir" near western Singapore.

According to a police statement, guards "immediately deployed both land and sea resources to intercept the swimmers".

Minutes later, a police vessel intercepted and arrested the two men aged 28 and 30 for the offence of unlawful entry into Singapore under Chapter 133 of the Immigration Act.
