SINGAPORE - Police have busted three social escort agencies for their alleged involvement in vice-related activities.

In a seven-hour operation on Tuesday (Oct 13), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) carried out raids at Geylang East Avenue, Kallang Place, Flora Road and Henderson Road.

Eight suspects - three men and five women aged between 23 and 52 - were arrested.

Computers, mobile phones, documents, cameras and clothing apparel were seized as case exhibits.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the three agencies were believed to have been operated by the three men. They would allegedly take a cut of the earnings of the social escorts involved.

The agencies are believed to have operated closely with each other.

The three men will be charged in court on Thursday under the Women's Charter. Police investigations into the remaining five suspects are ongoing.

Head of CID's Specialised Crime Branch, Superintendent of Police Lawrence Eng said: "Vice operators who assume that they can hide behind the 'smokescreen' of a social escort agency to commit criminal offences should think twice. We will find them and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law."
