SINGAPORE - A 31-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly caught attempting to steal undergarments in Taman Jurong on Thursday morning (March 15).

The man was caught by an alert resident at Lake Vista in Taman Jurong, a Design, Build and Sell Scheme flat.

Facebook user Wong Keng Yang, who posted about the incident on Thursday, said he saw a suspicious-looking man loitering around a ground level balcony of Block 138C, and witnessed him climbing up to the second storey balcony.

When Mr Wong approached the man, the latter "quickly jumped down trying to escape with a bicycle".

The resident stopped him, took him to the victim's unit and called the police.

The Straits Times understands there was a similar incident last month in which underwear was stolen from a unit in the estate.

A police spokesman told ST they were alerted to a case of housebreaking by night at Block 138C, Yuan Ching Road.

Police investigations are ongoing.
