SINGAPORE – A cement truck burst into flames in the morning on July 30 in Boon Lay, with no injuries reported.
In response to queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire, which involved the engine compartment of a truck, at about 8.05am in Corporation Road.
The blaze was extinguished with a water jet, it added.
In a video posted on Facebook group Singapore roads accident.com, a truck can be seen engulfed in a raging inferno with thick smoke billowing.
The Land Transport Authority said on X at 8.10am that there was an accident in Corporation Road towards Jurong West Avenue 1 and after Boon Lay Drive. It advised motorists to avoid the left lane.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
According to SCDF’s emergency medical services, fire and enforcement statistics in 2023, there were 215 vehicle fires in 2023, an increase of 5.4 per cent from 204 in 2022.
