SINGAPORE - Another dead cat has been found in Yishun, despite an alleged cat abuser being arrested earlier this week.

Cat interest group Yishun 326 Tabby Cat said that the cat was found at 3pm on Wednesday (Dec 30) at Block 734, Yishun Avenue 5.

"The cat has blood on the ears and mouth. The cat is a big sized female tabby about 7kg in weight," it said in a Facebook post.

The group also appealed for witnesses or anyone with more information to come forward.

The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore is performing a post-mortem to confirm if this is a case of abuse, Nee Soon GRC MP Louis Ng said.

"I do believe there is more than one cat killer, and AVA and SPF are actively continuing their investigations. The community is also continuing with their efforts on the ground," Mr Ng said.

Urging anyone with information to contact the AVA at 1800-476-1600, he said: "I hope it's not another case of abuse, but it is still sad news that another cat died today. Rest in peace."

The cat is the latest victim in a series of cat abuse cases in the area.

Last Saturday (Dec 26), the carcass of a dead cat was found floating in a pond next to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

In another incident last week, a cat was found with two fractured legs and required surgery.

So far, about 20 cats have been found dead or seriously injured in the Yishun area in the last three months, including Wednesday's case. Only two have survived.

On Tuesday, a 40-year-old man was charged with one count of animal cruelty.

Lee Wai Leong allegedly threw a cat to its death from the 13th floor of a HDB block in Yishun.
