SINGAPORE - Two fires were put out on Monday (May 15) at two different locations - one at a Paya Lebar bakery and the other involving a vehicle at a condominium at Westwood Avenue - with no reported injuries.

An oven at a bakery at 123 Upper Paya Lebar Road was on fire at about 4.40pm, according to videos posted online.

The clips show plumes of smoke rising from the row of shophouses.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told The Straits Times that it dispatched two fire engines, a Red Rhino, a support vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.

SCDF extinguished the fire using one water jet.

A spokesman for the Jie Traditional Bread Bakery told ST that the fire was under investigation and declined further comment.

A second fire broke out outside The Floravale condominium at Westwood Avenue at about 7pm on Monday.

In photos and a video published by Lianhe Zaobao on Monday night, a car is shown with its hood blackened and melted by the fire.

SCDF said it was alerted to the vehicle fire at 7.10pm and dispatched two fire engines. The fire, involving the engine compartment, was put out with a water jet.

There were no reported injuries in both cases and the causes of the fires are under investigation.
