The first session of the 13th Parliament on January 2016 included constitutional changes to the elected presidency. President Halimah Yacob is the first president elected under the new rules.

President Halimah Yacob will deliver her inaugural address at the opening of the second session of the 13th Parliament on May 7 at 8.30pm.
The House was prorogued, or closed, midway through the Government's term, on April 3. The recess is a time for the Government to take stock of its work and map out the agenda and policies for the remaining years of its term.
