SINGAPORE - The Reform Party has cancelled one of its two scheduled election rallies on the last day of campaigning.
The police said on Wednesday afternoon that the party had cancelled its Radin Mas rally at Delta Hockey Pitch which was originally scheduled to take place from 7pm to 10pm on Wednesday.
The other Reform Party's rally at the field in front of Block 982 Buangkok Crescent, for Ang Mo Kio GRC, will go ahead as planned.
When contacted, RP chairman Andy Zhu said: "We had a strategy to book Radin Mas in case we cannot get Ang Mo Kio or West Coast."
The party can hold two rallies at the same time, added Mr Zhu, who is running in West Coast GRC, but "the problem is we don't have enough speakers".
"We have decided that the best place to hold the rally would be Ang Mo Kio."
Wednesday will still see all nine political parties speaking at 14 rallies in total across the island. The rallies will all be held from 7pm to 10pm.
They include the People's Action Party, which is holding six rallies, including one for Jalan Besar GRC where Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is expected to speak, and the Workers' Party, which is holding a rally for East Coast GRC, seen as a hot seat this election.
