SINGAPORE - Tanglin actress Constance Song, 42, has confirmed that she gave birth to a baby girl earlier this year.

Song told Shin Min Daily News in a report on Saturday (Oct 14) that the child shares her birthday on May 18.

"She is my best birthday present," the Singaporean actress told Shin Min. "I never thought she would be born on that day."

Song, who stopped working for several months, has returned to filming English television series Tanglin.

Her daughter is cared for at an infantcare centre.

Song said she had originally wanted to keep a low profile about her daughter's birth, but decided to go public since rumours had spread.

However, she declined to share her daughter's name and would not talk about her other half. It is unclear if she is married.

She said: "About personal matters, I don't want to say much. I'm very thankful to the Tanglin crew who accommodate my filming times, they are great."

She also thanked her boss Li Nanxing. Song is signed under his talent management agency LNX Global.

"He didn't rush me to work, waited for me to get enough rest and for me to want to work before arranging things for me," she said.

Even though she was pregnant at a relatively older age, Song said it was not tough on her.

Laughing, she said: "I had a 'honeymoon pregnancy', and didn't have morning sickness, cravings or appetite changes."

Song was previously known for Channel 8 dramas, such as The Ultimatum (2010), before taking on English-speaking roles in HBO Asia's original series Grace (2014) and Channel 5 long-form series Tanglin (2015).

She made her foray into showbiz after making it to the 1997 Star Search finals.
