Formula One's most eligible bachelor Lewis Hamilton says he is not looking for a partner at present but he does know exactly what kind of woman she will be.

"Someone who's fun, someone who's as outgoing as I am. She's got to be willing to be spontaneous, and someone brought up with good values," says the 30-year-old driver of the Mercedes AMG Petronas team, speaking to Life in an interview organised by team sponsor Hugo Boss.

By "good values", he means "good with kids, have to be humble, caring, loving, someone who's more beautiful on the inside than out".

"I want to have a family and kids though I don't know when that's going to be," he says, adding that he is focused right now on "being the best" in the world of F1. His star is indeed in the ascendant, with seven wins this season to his credit, not to mention the possibility of a hat-trick on the Singapore circuit.

Hamilton and his long-time on-and-off girlfriend, singer and TV personality Nicole Scherzinger, broke things off in February. He has since been linked to other celebrities including singer Rihanna but says right now he is "focused on racing, enjoying myself and finding a good balance in my life".

Known for writing and recording songs in his downtime, Hamilton says he spent the flight to Singapore working on a "hook" for his latest effort. "It's about a girl, but not a love song," he says.

His most constant companions are perhaps his two British bulldogs, Roscoe and Coco, who he found online while waiting backstage for Scherzinger to film episodes of reality TV show The X-Factor.

They live with him in Monaco and travel with him as well when he visits family in London or friends in New York, though the flight to Singapore was too far for them, Hamilton says.

"I wanted a small dog because I'm travelling a lot. British bulldogs are cool because they're small but they're also strong, manly dogs."
