Extra security for Nicki Minaj waxwork after 'inappropriate' photos

People taking "inappropriate" photographs with a waxwork model of Anaconda singer Nicki Minaj has prompted Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas to lay on extra security for the figure.

Photos appeared online of suggestive poses with the artwork, which is based on the rapper's iconic pose in her Anaconda video - where she's posing in heels on her hands and knees.

Since the Las Vegas museum unveiled it earlier this month, fans have been rushing to be photographed with it.

But some visitors have been getting a bit too excited and taking "inappropriate" pics, says the museum.

Madame Tussauds says that while it wants people to have an "interactive, immersive experience", the waxworks must be "treated respectfully".

It said such things were "unfortunate" and apologised for any offence caused.

Madame Tussauds has brought in extra staff to monitor visitors and will "redesign" the figure too, said a BBC report.

The museum says "guests" were "consistently asking" it to add Nicki to its collection.

Twenty artists spent six month sculpting it.

It's currently in the attraction's music room, which is also home to a figure of Miley Cyrus on her Wrecking Ball.

Minaj has said she loves the figure in Instagram posts and has responded to some of the suggestive poses with emojis associated with crying from laughter.

She has not, however, commented on a photo of a man mounting the figure from behind and pulling its hair - the image that seems to have attracted the biggest backlash.

Rapper Azealia Banks said on Twitter last week that the pose invited such responses and was demeaning to one of the most successful female rap artists in history.
