Insufficient enforcement emboldens errant users of personal mobility devices

I agree with Mr Douglas Chua Hock Lye that it is time to curtail the use of personal mobility devices ("Time to curtail use of personal mobility devices"; Forum Online, Sept 22).

I do brisk walking along park connectors and am faced with people riding at high speeds on personal mobility devices almost every day.

These users of personal mobility devices continue to ride at such speeds because they know that penalties and enforcement are unclear so far.

The Land Transport Authority, Traffic Police, National Parks Board and town councils have overlapping jurisdiction over the import, regulation and enforcement over the use of personal mobility devices.

It is time to curtail the use of personal mobility devices before more people get injured or permanently impaired without any recourse.
