It was reported that a taxi passenger who did not belt up promptly would have to share 15 per cent of liability for her injuries following a collision on the ride ("Passengers, belt up quickly, or else..."; July 4).
Sometimes, it is not the passengers' fault for not belting up.
On several occasions, I wanted to belt up but the seat belts in the taxis were faulty and couldn't fit into the buckles.
Perhaps the authorities should do a thorough check to ensure that all taxi seat belts are in good working order.
