The frequent MRT breakdowns seem to occur mainly during morning and evening peak hours when trains are packed.
Could overloading be a factor in the breakdowns?
The extra weight will exert extra strain on the system, and this could, in turn, generate extra friction on the track, triggering the signalling problem that has been fingered as the cause of many breakdowns.
