Charge a fee per transaction, not per ticket

I purchased four tickets for a concert recently through Sistic. I was charged a booking fee of $4 per ticket.

The Sistic website says: "Sistic collects a booking fee of $1 per ticket for events which cost $20 and below. For tickets priced from $20.01 to $40, we charge a booking fee of $3 per ticket. For tickets above $40, we charge a booking fee of $4 per ticket."

I can fully understand Sistic's need to charge a booking fee for the maintenance and security of its system.

However, I do not understand why the booking fee is on a per-ticket basis.

With one transaction on their website, one can purchase multiple tickets. As such, the system is not under stress from multiple-ticket bookings.

It is only reasonable that the booking fee be on a per-transaction basis.

For example, Golden Village charges an administration fee per transaction, not per ticket.

Sistic should consider doing likewise and change its booking from a per-ticket charge to a per-transaction one.

If more reasonable booking fees can only be achieved if there are more booking agents, then it is time to allow more of them to enter the market.
