NEW DELHI - Fast food chain KFC has launched a meal box in India which allows its customers to charge their mobile phones as they tuck into fried chicken.
Dubbed Watt A Box, the limited-edition box comes with a built-in power bank.
The box costs 149 rupees (S$3) and includes five food items from its menu.
Only a few lucky customers will be served the Watt A Box which is available at selected outlets, The Times of India reported.
Those who participate in an online contest on KFC India's Facebook page will also get the chance to win the power bank box.
KFC India's chief marketing officer Lluis Ruiz Ribot said the chain wanted to introduce an "element of utility" into its meal boxes.
"Each one of us spends a considerable time on our smartphones daily, and the phone battery going dead is almost like a nightmare! No longer is that the case, with the Watt A Box around," he added.
The power bank claimed to have a battery capacity of 6,100mAh - enough to fully charge an iPhone 6 three times. But a check by tech website BGR India found that it did not hold enough battery power to charge even one phone.
