The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has released documents online which it claimed were from the government probe into state investment fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Scanned documents posted on the US newspaper's website included a diagram which purportedly showed money flows to Prime Minister Najib Razak's bank account. The documents also included bank statements.

WSJ and the Sarawak Report published an article on Friday (July 3) quoting an "unnamed investigator", claiming that almost US$700 million (S$942 million) of 1MDB funds went into Mr Najib's personal accounts.

Mr Najib has denied the allegations and called them "political sabotage". He also said he has referred the matter to lawyers, and would decide whether to take any legal steps in a few days.

Meanwhile, a special task force formed to probe the allegations said six bank accounts linked to the allegations of the channelling of funds to Mr Najib have been frozen.
