- A three-way crash involving a lorry, a tour bus and a car on Malaysia’s North-South Expressway is blocking northbound lanes near the Ayer Keroh exit in Malacca on Dec 23.

It is believed that the bus and lorry collided, while the lorry crashed off the highway and the bus skidded, coming to rest sideways across three lanes.

According to a spokesperson for the Malacca Fire Department, the Ayer Keroh Fire Department received the accident report at 8.45pm on Dec 23.

It is believed that more than one person died in the accident, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Highway operator Plus Malaysia Berhad said on social media platform X that the accident occurred on the northbound side of the highway between Simpang Ampat and Ayer Keroh, causing both northbound and southbound lanes to be affected.

In its latest update at 1.39am on Dec 24, all northbound lanes and the right lanes towards the south are still blocked.

It said traffic was reported to be congested 7km southbound, and 6km northbound.

Those travelling north have been diverted to Ayer Keroh Toll, it said, while a smart lane is opened for those travelling south, and vehicles can use emergency lanes at these specific locations.

“Plan your journey and drive carefully,” it added. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
