IPOH - A sinkhole in the Malaysian state of Perak has caused the porches of two houses to cave in, while two other houses sustained some minor damages.

The assistant director (operations) at the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, Mr Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, said a big chunk of the porches of two houses caved in during a downpour on Sept 28 at about 7pm.

A husband and wife were in one of the homes while no one was at home in the other house.

Another two houses sustained minor damages. A woman was in one of the houses, while nobody was home in the other.

“No houses collapsed nor was anyone injured during the incident,” said Mr Sabarodzi in a statement on Sept 28.

He said that firemen had conducted a size-up of the situation and proceeded to monitor the structural integrity of the affected houses.

“We advised the respective inhabitants to vacate the premises and go somewhere safe,” he added.

“The couple has moved out while the woman chose to stay behind. The police have advised her to use the back door.”

The operation ended at about 9.20pm. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
