PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The press conference called by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Sunday (Sept 17) afternoon is not about seeking a dissolution of Parliament, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister was addressing speculation on the major announcement to be made by the Prime Minister and Umno president.

In his speech at the Arau Umno division delegates meeting on Sunday, the Umno vice-president called on those spreading fake news to stop doing so.

All Umno supreme council members received an invitation on Saturday night from the party secretary-general to attend the media conference.

It will be held at Umno headquarters at Menara Dato' Onn in Kuala Lumpur at 4.45pm.

Umno officials were, however, tight-lipped when asked about the agenda of Najib's media conference.

A source denied that the Prime Minister would announce his intent to seek the dissolution of Parliament to pave the way for a general election.
