A 21-year-old woman in Kuching, Sarawak, was allegedly drugged and raped by a housemate's relative in her rented house on Wednesday (Jan 6) night.
According to The New Straits Times, the sales assistant's "night of hell" ended with the rapist, a 31-year-old man, stuffing a RM20 (S$6.50) note into her private parts.
At around 7pm, the man had burst into her room, brandishing a knife, and attacked her. She attempted to resist but was overpowered and tied up.
She was then force-fed several pills and raped several times throughout the night when she became semi-conscious.
The man was arrested in his house in the village of Tebakang the following day, said Sarawak's Criminal Investigation Department chief Dev Kumar.
Police seized the knife and belt that were used during the sexual assault.
Last year, there were 149 reported cases of rape in Sarawak - an increase of five cases compared to 2014.
The majority of the cases were statutory rapes involving minors.
