A 52-year-old woman in Hong Kong was arrested in relation to the murder of her six-year-old grandson early Sunday (March 18).
The boy was found in a love hotel in Wan Chai, which is a popular nightclub district, with strangulation marks around his neck, reported the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
A police spokesman told SCMP that they were alerted at 12.54am that a boy was in a coma at the Beverly Hotel, located in the Capital Building in Lockhart Road.
The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2.28am.
According to SCMP, the alleged murder took place after the pair checked into a hotel room late Saturday afternoon.
The woman was the main caregiver of the boy, who comes from a single-parent family and was recently diagnosed with hyperactivity disorder, a police source said.
