Several feared dead in plane crash near Geelong, Australia

VICTORIA - Three people were killed when a plane crashed at the Barwon Heads near Geelong on Victoria's Bellarine Peninsula on Friday (Jan 29). Searches were conducted by two coastguard vessels at the scene of the accident where the plane had crashed into the water just before 12.30 pm local time near Bridge Road, where the Barwon River flows into the Bass Strait.

Ambulance Victoria tweeted that two air ambulance helicopters were dispatched to the crash site located south-east of Geelong, and about 65km south-west of Melbourne.

The cause of the incident is not yet known.
