Hiker missing since Friday found dead in carpark

A man's body found at the top level of a multi-storey carpark is believed to be that of 27-year-old Steward Lee Goon Hong, who was reported missing on Friday (Feb 17).

The 1.8m-tall Mr Lee was last seen at Block 407 at Fajar Road at around 2pm that day. He did not inform anyone about his whereabouts and had left his mobile phone at home, sparking a frantic search led by his family and friends over the weekend.

He was last seen wearing a pair of black framed spectacles, a black T-shirt and blue jeans.

US President Donald Trump picks Lt Gen HR McMaster as national security adviser

US President Donald Trump said on Monday (Feb 20, 2017) that Lieutenant General Herbert Raymond McMaster would be his new national security adviser, again turning to the US military to play a central role on his foreign policy team.

Trump also named Keith Kellogg, a retired US Army General who has been serving as the acting national security adviser, as chief of staff to the National Security Council. Speaking to reporters in West Palm Beach where he spent the weekend, Trump said John Bolton, a former US ambassador to the United Nations, would serve the administration in another capacity.

McMaster is a highly regarded military tactician and strategic thinker, but his selection surprised some observers who wondered how McMaster, who is known for questioning authority, would deal with a White House that has not welcomed criticism.

US wants NATO to step up defence spending by year-end, says Vice President Mike Pence

US President Donald Trump expects by the end of the year "real progress" among NATO allies to step up their defence spending towards the minimum criteria of two per cent of their economic output, Vice President Mike Pence said on Monday (Feb 20, 2017).

Speaking at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Pence said:"America will do our part but European defence requires European commitment as much as ours... The president expects real progress by the end of 2017."

Pence also assured the European Union that the Trump administration will develop their cooperation in trade and security and backs the EU as a partner in its own right.

Russia's UN envoy Vitaly Churkin dies suddenly in New York

Russia's combative ambassador to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin, died suddenly in New York on Monday after being taken ill at work, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry gave no details on the circumstances of his death but offered condolences to his relatives and said the diplomat had died one day before his 65th birthday.

It declined to comment on reports that Churkin had been taken to hospital shortly before his death.

Kim Jong Nam murder: Media reports no sign of son's arrival in KL

The son of murdered North Korean Kim Jong Nam was said to be on his way to Malaysia on Monday (Feb 20) to claim his father's remains but more than 50 reporters camped out at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to await his arrival were left without a story.

Rumour had it that his 21-year-old son, Kim Han Sol, would be on AirAsia Flight AK8321 from Macau but there was no sign of him at the arrival hall, Malaysia's New Straits Times reported.

His father is the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un who died after he was attacked at KL airport last week by two women said to be connected to North Korea.
