Europe ponders its Afghanistan options

LONDON - Key European governments remain locked in discussions on the future handling of the Afghanistan crisis.

A special meeting of European Union foreign ministers was devoted exclusively to this topic, and intensive diplomatic negotiations are continuing, particularly between France and Britain, on the coordination of a joint stance over Afghanistan at the United Nations and other international organisations.
