The rising cost of stall rentals at the Geylang Serai bazaar - held annually in conjunction with the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan - has been an issue for several years now.

The cost of renting a 2.7m by 2.7m stall now stands at $20,000, up from $10,000 four years ago.
