Celebrity DJ Tenashar says time spent in jail was blessing in disguise

The 33-year-old, whose full name is Debbie Valerie Tenashar Long, was jailed 18 months for drug possession and consumption. She spoke to The Straits Times about her time in prison and her future plans.

She maintains she did not knowingly take drugs, despite pleading guilty to consumption and admitting possession

Used to touring the world and living it up in five-star hotels, celebrity model-DJ Tenashar suffered a huge culture shock during her first few nights in prison - where she slept on the concrete floor of a small cell with five other inmates.

"I couldn't sleep because it was just so hot and stuffy. Because of the tight space, I would constantly bump into those beside me when I turned," the top DJ and former FHM cover girl told The Sunday Times in her first interview, a week after her release.
